Your chat, turned into a private dashboard
WhatsApp lets you export any chat as a text file, but that file is just a wall of timestamps and messages. Chat Story Studio reads it and works out the numbers that are actually interesting — how many messages were sent, who sent the most, which day was the busiest, what time of day the conversation is most active, which emoji shows up the most, and how long the longest daily streak ran.
Everything is calculated the moment you upload the file, right there in your browser tab. There's no account to create and nothing to wait on a server for.
Nothing you upload leaves your device
The .txt or .zip file you drop in is read with your browser's own File API and parsed in a background Web Worker — a separate thread that keeps the page responsive even on a long chat history. At no point does the file, its contents, or anything derived from it (message counts, participant names, dates) get sent over the network.
"Without Media" is WhatsApp's own export option, not something this tool adds — it means the .txt log includes placeholder lines like image omitted wherever a photo, video, or voice note was sent, but the actual media files are never part of the export and were never something this tool could see.
What we measure, and what we deliberately don't
Every number in the dashboard is something that can be calculated directly and reliably from the export: message counts, active days, busiest day and hour, top emoji, and who tends to send the first message of the day. Metrics we can't calculate reliably — like a "relationship score" or an average reply time — simply aren't included, because a WhatsApp export doesn't contain enough information (delivery timing, read receipts, intent) to make those numbers anything more than a guess dressed up as a fact.

Common questions
How do I export a WhatsApp chat?+
Open the chat in WhatsApp. On Android, tap the three-dot menu → More → Export chat. On iPhone, open Chat Info / Group Info and tap Export Chat. Either way, choose "Without Media" so the export stays small, then upload the resulting .txt or .zip file here.
Is my chat uploaded to 92 Nodes or anywhere else?+
No. The file is read and parsed entirely in your browser using standard Web APIs and a background Web Worker. Nothing you upload — the file, message text, or participant names — is ever sent to a server, stored, or included in analytics.
Why doesn't "Without Media" include my photos and videos?+
That's what "Without Media" means in WhatsApp's own export dialog — it produces a text-only log plus placeholder lines like "image omitted" wherever a photo, video, or voice note was sent. This tool never asks for or reads the actual media files.
Why does it sometimes ask which date format I'm using?+
Some exports write dates as day/month/year and others as month/day/year, and when every date in a chat has both numbers at or below 12 (like 03/04/26), it's genuinely ambiguous which is which. When that happens, you'll be asked to confirm the order that matches your phone's region before any stats are calculated.
Does this work for group chats?+
Yes — group chats with any number of participants are supported, and the dashboard adds a group leaderboard ranking everyone by message count once there are more than two participants.
Is there a file size limit?+
Yes, uploads are limited to 25 MB (plenty for even very long text-only exports) so parsing stays fast and safe in your browser tab. Larger exports are processed in a background Web Worker so the page never freezes.
Can other people see my actual messages on the story card?+
No — the poster only ever shows counts, percentages, dates, and emoji. It never renders message text. You can also rename or hide any participant's name before downloading, or hide every name at once.
Does it work with both Android and iPhone exports?+
Yes. The parser recognizes both the bracketed iPhone format and the dashed Android format, 12-hour and 24-hour timestamps, multiline messages, and the different media-omitted placeholders each platform writes.
